Here’s the Story

Paris Hilton will be released from jail on Tuesday.  I’m so relieved.

Recently, while flipping the TV channels, I ran across some old episodes of The Brady Bunch.  It was the episode where they went to Disneyworld or some similar theme park and Dad Brady was there to sell some design ideas to some investors, but he got the plans mixed up with Jan’s souvenir bear poster.  The investors said “We are leaving for the airport in 30 minutes.  If you cannot find your designs by then, I guess you lose the account.”

I was quite impressed with what they accomplished in 30 minutes, considered this was the age of no cell phones.  Mr. Brady was able to get all the way back to the theme park, find all of the members of his family, tell them the news, then cover the entire park and look on every ride that Jan had taken earlier to find where she had left the tube with the designs in it.  Of course they found the designs, and they ran to tell their dad and he was then able to race back and get the designs to the investors just as they were leaving town.

The other funny thing to me is that no one got into trouble and no one was upset.  The whole family had a big ol’ laugh about the whole incident and decided to go back on the rollercoaster to celebrate.  Gee, Dad, you’re swell!

That would have never happened with my family now or when I was growing up. We would have been freaking out, my dad would have thrown around a million G.D.’s and my mother would be wringing her hands.

Exactly! I always wanted to be a Brady Bunch kid, but now that I’m an adult, I wonder how 3 girls all lived in one bedroom and all shared one bathroom with 3 boys!

Isn’t that the episode where the family performs as a ‘band’ a la Partridge Family (Jackson5/Cowsills/any other family group of the time) and Greg sings while the others dance and do backup vocals? All this while the sub-plot surrounding the lost plans takes place, of course.

Don’t ask me why I think I remember that, except that it was so frickin goofy and sugar-coated that the memory got stuck to a couple brain cells.

They were at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio. And I think the singing one was when they were trying to buy a silver platter for their parents’ anniversary.
